Encoder Motor Range Sensor failure can be caused by a Linkage Bearing & Seal assembly leak into the encoder motor without any signs of external leak (figure 1).

    The Range Sensor can be purchased separately GM part #88962315. Figure 2 shows the Encoder Motor disassembled.
