722.6 NAG1 Won't Hold 4th Drops Back To 3rd

Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep TCM May default to neutral until the vehicle slows down to approx. 18 mph then re-engage.

A Mercedes vehicle will failsafe to the gear the transmission was in when the TCM detects the fault until the vehicle comes to a stop. Once the ignition is cycled the transmission will default to 2nd gear.

This complaint may be caused by a broken 3-4 Shift Pressure Valve Spring (figure 1). The spring dimension is .955” X .255” X .023”.

722.9 NAG2

Mercedes Benz 722.9 transmission fluid has been updated as of June 21, 2010 (figure 1). The new fluid color changed from red to blue and is not compatible with previous fluid type.

There was also a change to the sump (pan) configuration (figure 2). The new pan has 4 larger oval shaped forms (dimples) in comparison to the early round shape.

The overall pan depth is now 5mm deeper and the overflow pipe (inside the pan) is green (figure 3). Previous overflow fill pipe was black (early) then updated to white (late).
